Not Enabling Trolls, Off to a Graduation

There has been more, continued, unnecessary, unpleasant drama and trolling, accusing spiletta42 of plagiarism and trolling, both accusations which have been publically and swiftly disproved.

It has been noted that the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to stand by, and I did not want to do that. I offered Spiletta my support. I friended her. Now I have received a rather threatening message on the sticky post at the head of my journal posted in a cowardly and anonymous way as a result. I responded to this by saying that I do not take kindly to being threatened in my own space, and that I would be removing my reply to the threat and the threat itself in a day, giving the anonymous troll a chance to get my response. If you want to see the evidence, go and see it, but act quickly. It will not be up for long.

I am not going to get involved in this drama. The proper response to threats and intimidation is exposure, and then to ignore and rise above. I have my son's college graduation, my husband's birthday, and other happy and fulfilling real life events to attend to, and will be mostly gone for the weekend.

Haters can hate, people who want to believe the worst of me can do so, but then again if they are willing to do that, then they don't know me too well. I try my best in this life to be honest, upright, kind, and loving, and those who have actually dealt with me in rl or on line can testify to that. I stand by my record.

I am sorry for my friends and acquaintances on line who are getting sucked into unnecessary drama, or who are worried that I might be hurt. Don't worry about me. I'm too busy having a life, and it really is all sticks and stones. A person's reputation ultimately depends on what they do over time, and not on mere words bandied about. Those of you who don't know me and are concerned, look read, follow my record over time, and I think you will be calmed. Those of you who do know me, thank you for your concern. You guys are the best. I'm fine, I'm busy, and I'm heading off to one of those rare occasions when I get to see all four of my kids at once, and I'll even get to meet my new nephew born on April 30th, so life is good.

YAY, Congrats to your son. That's do exciting. Hope you have a good time. I just spent this beautiful day at the park with my 5yo and 10mo and made home in time to be here when the kids got off the bus (it was close). Now it's time to rest and write.

And I had a feeling what that was all about. Some people are so freaking immature.

What disturbs me is how much time and energy over how long a period this person is willing to put in to doing this. Life is so short that this seems like a truly terrible waste of precious and irrecoverable lifetime.

You know the really exciting thing about this graduation? Two college tuitions down and two to go! Half way done!

Well, that and the fact that the boy whose superpower is procrastination actually got it all done and turned in. On time!

Any time I can get all four kids together these days, when they are starting to move off out into their own lives is by definition glorious. I'm sure I'll have a great time!

Obviously this person has no real life.

I mean, I have no real life off line but I still have way too many better things to do with my time than annoy strangers on the internet. I don't get people that stop maturing at 12. Grow the fuck up already!

Ah, so that's what that was about. I'm new to the LJ scene, but it seemed pretty clear to me that those making anonymous posts like that are actually the trolls. Plus, I've been reading (lurking? :) long enough to know that you seem really nice!

Enjoy your weekend and congrats on your new nephew! I'm awaiting my first niece, and I'm so excited for her to get here. She was due 5 days ago! :)

Thank you. I certainly try to be nice. I'm glad it's coming across well out there.

New nephew is the youngest of my sister's three (two girls and a boy) and his parents maintain that he's the last. Middle child is lobbying vigorously for another so she can have another crack at getting that little sister she wanted.

First children often take their own sweet time arriving on stage. They want to be sure the audience is breathless for their big entrance! I hope for your poor sister's sake that you get to meet the niece soon, because that stage of feeling fat and heavy and like if you sit on anything upholsered you might never again achieve escape velocity and like you need a support team to help turn you over in bed, are not the most enthralling days of pregnacy!

lol! I like your way of phrasing that. and if she wants a breathless audience, she's got one! :)

A good hot RDA icon to help put you in a better mood. Sorry some fandom weirdness has hit you (and Spiletta!)--too bad that the hobby that can give us so much enjoyment is sometimes marred by a few weirdos.

Hang in there!

MMMMMMMMM. Nice scenery!

Thanks for the words of support. Fortunately the things the troll has done and said really don't have much of an effect on me. I was troubled in that she was making my flist concerned for me (which is what I would expect from my flist, because you are all lovely people), and I'd rather have my presence in your lives bring pleasure and not concern. But since I really feel I've done no wrong, what is posted about me doesn't bother me. People that are going to believe spew like that without looking at my track record or asking me to explain are probably not the kind of friend I'd want to attract anyway. *shrugs*

And in regards to your icon? Backatcha! :)

I was SO confused when some DARED to comment on MY journal 'warning' me that YOU, of all people were a troll/enabler. WTF? Ridiculous. Glad to see you're not letting it bother you. :) Have fun with your family, and congrats to the grad! :)

Thank you, and what lovely praise! I'm blushing.

Fortunately, I'm simply not the type to get upset by that type of thing. Occasionally someone on lj simply reads something I wrote wrong, or I forget to emoticon a joke when my tone gets a little dry, and they feel hurt or offended, and that can upset me until I manage to make it clear that I never intended harm. The idea that I might have genuinely caused hurt is upsetting. This kind of thing with no basis in fact? Not worth worrying about!

I can't imagine wasting so much time in my life trying to spread misery. Some of the photoshopping that this person has done must have taken significant chunks of time and effort. Life's too short for that!
