Fic on my DW journal

Title: Mysterious Ways
Season: Anytime after Sam Carter returns from Atlantis
Spoilers: Only for deaths in Sam's and Jack's pre-series families.
Warnings: Ummm... Probably not the fic of choice for a hardcore atheist. This was a birthday gift for a Seminary student.
Synopsis: Your emotions, like your sins, will find you out.

An aside: I can never hear the quotation "Your sins will find you out" without thinking of my daughter's tale of listening to a substitute minister giving the sermon in his rich Oxbridge British accent, and saying dramatically "Your sins will find you...[dramatic pause for effect]...OUT!" She had an immediate vision of her sins, garbed rather like a grim reaper, knocking on her door, and muttering darkly "Drat! She's out again!" The image is vivid and contageous. I can't seem to find the passage quite as threatening as it is intended to be anymore!)

Aw. Sad but very sweet. I loved "I have you." Because that really does make all the difference. :)

Yeah, that's the part that the folks who can't see Sam and Jack as a pair because they say they are too careerminded are missing. Just knowing that the other is in their life is the crucial part. I doubt that either of them would be clingy or needy. They'd handle a long distance relationship well, but knowing that there is one other in the world who cares and understands in that way does make all the difference.

Very nice. Bittersweet but lovely.* But yeah, everything is better when they're together.

*Sorry, it seems I'm not doing so well at complete sentences today...

I've been cleaning and packing much of the day, and have breathed more than a Pharaoh's tomb's worth of dust. Brain have I NOT! I completely understand the inability to speak write in polished sentences.

There are so many people who say that those two wouldn't work because they are both so career minded and would be apart so much, but both of them are used to solitude. Having another person to be an anchor to windward, or a safe haven to return to would be a wondrous luxury to them both, and feed their souls. Then they could both go out and take on the Universe (or worse - paperwork!) with more energy and determination.

Edited because using HTML when overly tired is not always a bright idea.

To Know the Dark

To go in the dark with a light is to know the light.
